Even after the division, a region has refused to be part of both India and Pakistan and decided to be independent, that was Jammu and Kashmir. At that moment Maharaja Hari Singh was the king of Jammu Kashmir, who himself declared Jammu and Kashmir to be a separate nation in 1947. While majority of population being Muslim in the region,Pakistan immediately launched troops to free Muslim majority region from Hindu rules. Then the Maharaja appealed for Indian aid and signed an agreement to acced Kashmir to India in October 1947 and Indian troops cleared Pakistani forces from the region. Meanwhile, the long been dispute still remains and both India and Pakistan claims the region to be part of their territories. As the issue needs to be sorted out soon as possible because it may lead up to more devastating results for one of  the most beautiful parts of World.
